The 2+2 Transfer Pathway from Fulton-Montgomery Community College
January 25, 2026

Fulton-Montgomery Community College (FMCC) is the only community college among the four schools featured on this site, and it's the most cost-effective option for the first two years of undergraduate study.
With the 2+2 transfer pathway, students complete two years at FMCC, then transfer with a guarantee into the third year of a four-year State University of New York school to finish their bachelor's degree — a route many international students choose to reduce overall study costs.
Another strength of FMCC is its full ESL pathway, which requires no IELTS or TOEFL score to start. This lets students who aren't yet test-ready still enroll and build their English while getting used to the US academic environment.
Because the I-20 and F-1 visa process applies to community college students too, the document preparation steps are largely the same as for four-year schools — see the Visa Guide page for details. Contact our Vietnam representative for guidance specific to the 2+2 pathway.
